YouTube Video Ad Units product retires from service at the end of April
Google AdSense officially announced retirement of YouTube Video Ad Units on April 20, 2009 by sending an email to every Google AdSense publisher. I received an email from Google AdSense at 11.44 PM. As we already know that Google Inc decided to introduce YouTube Video Ad Units product to increase Internet Advertising as well as YouTube popularity. Google AdSense officially introduced YouTube Video Ad Units on October 8, 2007 in United States (U.S). Google successfully tested this product and satisfied with results. Similarly, Google AdSense later allowed almost all Countries publishers to monetize their websites with one YouTube Ad Unit per page. However, YouTube Video Ad Units performance reduces day by day. In other words, most of publishers are not interested to monetize their websites with YouTube Video Ad Units product due to very low revenue when compared to "AdSense for Content" as well as "AdSense for Search" products revenue.
I was also tested YouTube Video Ad Units product for one month but all my sites received very low amount of revenue than other Google AdSense products. That is why most of website owners are not interested to place YouTube Video Ad Units.
We're writing to let you know that we'll be retiring AdSense video units at the end of April. After reviewing this feature, we've found that it hasn't been performing as well as we had hoped, so we've decided to focus our efforts on other opportunities to help publishers monetize their sites.
According to Google AdSense official statement. Google AdSense's YouTube Video Ad Units product discouraged their team with some drawbacks and performance. So, Google Inc decided to close YouTube Ad Units by the end of the April 2009. Therefore, Google AdSense officially intimated all Publishers to remove YouTube Video Ad Units code from their websites because YouTube Video Ad Units' ad code is deactivated soon.
